Membrane: Gritex
Gritex is a polyester-based membrane placed between the textile lining and the outer material in shoes. The use of a Gritex membrane preserves the footwear’s natural breathability and to some extent prevents moisture from getting in. Gritex is used for winter urban boots and hiking boots designed for light and moderate hiking, i.e. it is not suitable for extreme or alpine conditions.
Upper: Velour
The leather is ground on the reverse and has a short hair on the surface. It is popularly known as suede. Velour is less prone to superficial damage than nubuck.
A special type of leather with a velour-like appearance is called split leather. It is made of a lower layer of leather, usually treated by sanding. Compared to top-grain leathers, it is cheaper but less strong and durable.
Sole: PU
A plastic material widely used for shoemaking. Most often it is used to produce midsoles and soles. Polyurethane has excellent properties for this purpose. It is extremely durable and abrasion resistant. It shapes well and is very light. Compared to other footwear materials such as rubber, leather or PVC, its service life is multiple times longer. PU midsoles have a porous structure and effectively absorb shock. This greatly contributes to shoe comfort.
